Raw sound and honest lyrics are the key ingredients that make up the new release from alternative pop newcomer Tim Wildsmith. The Omaha-based artist's A New Morning is a refreshing mix of alternative rock and mellow pop that draws comparisons to the likes of Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, and Aqualung.

Wildsmith is quickly gaining fans with his incredibly vulnerable lyrics, with which he tells the story of trying to survive a broken heart. You can tell he's been through a lot. From gentler, piano-based songs like "Recovery" and "Second Chance" to guitar-driven rockers like "Somehow" and "Love Is On The Move," he invites listeners in as he struggles to keep moving.

Welcome to episode 41! It's a split show this time as Bob and J from Two Drag Club join me in the studio for mics and martinis. Us drummers talk about the new project, previous projects and the fact we all have been in the scene since the good ole days before 311 left for California and anybody knew who Conor Oberst was.

The second half of the show features an interview with former Jayhawks band member Mark Olson. He currently on tour supporting his new (and first) solo album called "The Salvation Blues" and is coming to Mick's Music Bar here in Omaha on February 15th.

In memory:
A couple hours after publishing this episode, I received a call from my dear friend Mark Peterson who was in a band with me for several years called the Cocktosens. His wife Beth Peterson had been battling complications with a brain tumor and passed away this morning. I can't tell you how sad I am. In fact, I'm finding it difficult to believe. She was  a great friend and I have to admit that after the band stopped playing we all went our own ways and spent the past few years with little contact. I enjoyed moments with Mark and Beth that I will never forget and some extremely happy times as close friends. My heart and sympathies go out to Mark and  Beth's families.  She will be missed and remembered for all the fun and joyful times she brought her friends and those around her.
