A Christmas Carol!
Well, we did it. Dubbing ourselves the Empty Bottle Theatre Group, I assembled a cast of my closest friends to perform something that I have wanted to do for a long time, a live, old-time radio serial. When I asked everyone if they were interested, I got back an enthusiastic response, but since everyone was so busy this season, we had to improvise. So here is the theme, some characters were changed around and everyone got an un-edited script. It was one I found online that was used in Orson Well's original radio drama. Everyone was responsible for editing their own lines and could do whatever they wanted. We got together and ran through one scene, changed a few characters off the cuff, cracked open a few bottles of wine and ran with it.
So what you are hearing is a completely un-rehearsed, ad libbed version of A Christmas Carol. You can tell that as it nears the end of the show, we all are getting drunker and drunker...
I did very little editing and we all just had a blast. Granted MY ACCENTS ARE HORRIBLE, but it was all in good fun. You can hear us laughing in the background and several times, we almost couldn't contain ourselves as everything was done impromptu, which resulted in much spontaneous laughter.
A big thanks to Gary Dring from the Clever Little Pod podcast, my friend from the UK. He was kind enough to record the narration for the show. Thanks to Marco Rossetti for taking some great shots while we were recording, thanks to Dan Byers for helping with production and another big thanks to all my crazy friends who made this a great night of fun.

It was a tragic week last week. Our city is stunned by the violence that happened at the Westroads Mall here in Omaha Nebraska and are still trying to make some sense out of it. It's not the only time this year that our community has suffered a loss due to gun violence, but on a scale like this and with no apparent cause or motive, it is truly heartbreaking.
So many lives affected by this. Families rocked with suffering. It was a place where anyone could have been, it always seemed so safe. This show is dedicated to those suffering. I don't know if I said anything very profound, but it is a medium I have to pay tribute with.
I wish all those that lost someone this year due to senseless violence will find peace somehow...

Welcome to Episode 32. I thought this was going to be kind of a laid back episode with my in studio co-host Korey Anderson. Well it was for a while. We just chat about all sorts of things in this episode. All is good...until.
Yeah, after Korey leaves, I experience street violence right out in front of my house. I talk about it in the second half of the show. It was quite terrifying. Punk ass bitches. At least we didn't get shot. But it was not a pleasant experience.

Love him like the world is ending...
Welcome to Episode 31! On the show I interview Ben Lee who is currently on tour with Mandy Moore. You've probably heard some of his songs featured in promos for ABC's Gray's Anatomy or Heroes. He's got a new album his single "Love Me Like The World Is Ending" is getting lots of airplay.
Me and my friend Korey Anderson are on the road to Des Moines to pick up a beautiful Vespa scooter he purchased. It's a beautiful thing. One more cool scoot for the Omaha Scooter Club!

It's our 30th episode! Sure it has been a few weeks since the last podcast, but unfortunately, between the summer break and a variety of computer problems, it just didn't happen till now.
In this episode I have in-studio guests Coles Whalen and Nicole Torres who stopped by a couple months back to play for us. They talk about life on the road and what it's like to be hip chicks tearin' up the road.

Back from Mexico!
Greetings everyone! We are back from Mexico and are now happily married! Sorry about the long wait between podcasts - no I have not podfaded - it has just been overwhelming keeping up with work, planning the wedding trip and then actually enjoying the two weeks in Mexico. It was a great time and everyone that went had a life-changing experience. Of course when we got back, it was back to work, so catching up has been taking up all our time as well as building a huge deck in our back yard.
Whew!! Now that things are calming down, we are gearing up for our reception, but have been able to take some time out for other things - like a new episode of Worlds of Wayne!!
Get strung out -
After seeing this quartet perform live at an art auction event, I knew I had to get them on the show. All of them are under 19 years old and they are called the DeBrodiez Quartet. Not only are they great musicians, they are fun, intelligent, well spoken and are carving their mark in the local orchestral scene. Hell, they played the new Holland Center before Connor Oberst did!
The DeBrodiez have also released a CD to raise money to help pay for their tuition to the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory, a camp in Colorado they will be attending. Check out the link below and order this CD for only $12!! Help them get to camp and enjoy some great music in the process.

This Texas native made a stop by Omaha and chats with me about music, movies and surprize phone calls. A true country, rockabilly, honkytonk legend that has been tearing up stages all over the world for years. Check out his site to find out more about his music.
Doug joins me in the studio and co-hosts the show! Doug writes for the entertainment blog Mantarctica.net. We talk music, movies and the paranormal over a couple martinis...
Show screw ups...
Ok, for some reason this show has a few glitches. In parts it skips and others it's a bit distorted due to a wrong setting on my compressor. Should be fixed by next show.

A Red-Haired Muse...
Singer-songwriter Coles Whales stops by to become my first in-studio musical guest! It was early in the morning and she was cool enough to record our interview and sing a few songs as well. Even that early, her voice was stunning and we had a good time talking about her new EP, Myspace comments and how cabbage patch kids are born.
Friday, bloody Friday...
I recorded this show on Friday the 13th. One of my favorite days in the year. I share a few 13th-isms.

Yes, but this time we are going to put Little Brazil on the iTunes charts. Back with the Bottlerockets!
Interview with Brian Henneman, singer/guitarist for the legendary Bottlerockets. He takes some time to chat with me about thier latest record, the road and grass.
Art at home
Laurie joins me as my in-studio guest and we talk about our recent in-home art show. Great party, even better art.
Actually, this podcast was edited down from over an hour, we talked about the movie 300, as well as what's happening in the streaming internet radio industry. But, alas, I ran out of time. So I will do another show next week about this streaming radio topic. Please write in and leave me your input on what you think about greedy radio labels charging hobbyists so much to play songs, after they have been paying royalties already...Fucking SUCKS! On the bus with Augustana
My band Anonymous American got the opportunity to open for Augustana at Knickerbockers in Lincoln Nebraska. It was a sold out show and the guys in the band were incredibly cool to work with. I also got the chance to hang out on the tour bus and talk to a couple members about life on the road, the band and puking up wine.
Kendall joins me in the studio
Since Omaha got dumped on with snow and none of her friends could come over, my daughter Kendall joins me in the studio for this show. She's a natural on the mic.
OK yeah I know through the whole show I call them "Augustana" and saying the "ana" part like the A in "Anna", when I should have said it using the long form of the A as in "Fauna." So my apologies to the band and the fans. But hey, it's my fucking show
We pull some of the best and worst covers of Augustana's "Boston" from Youtube.com. Please don't sue us. Kendall and I cuss and discuss the songs Worlds of Wayne Idol style.
Kendal talks about the movie Terabithia. She's not very good at keeping secrets so if you don't know the story and want to be surprised, skip this part.

It's a dirty job...
My interview with Krista Detor. It was very cool. Check out part of her bio below. She will be playing in Omaha on Jan 26th at Mick's.
Her album Mudshow is fantastic and I urge everyone to pick it up on iTunes or from her website.
An up and coming Americana songwriter and performer, Krista began her performing career playing the wedding-cocktail party circuit as a sixteen year old in Los Angeles. While running at breakneck speed from the onset of adulthood hiding out in Louisiana shotgun shacks, a flat in Seoul, a travel trailer, thirteen different apartments and one haunted house shes managed to live and perform all over the U.S. and parts of Asia. Around the turn of the century, she inexplicably found herself in the Midwest and fell in love with the rolling green hills of Southern Indiana.
With the release of her new CD, Mudshow, Krista has begun to reach new levels of critical acclaim and national attention, as she tours the U.S.

Interview with Jerzy Jung
There are two things you are probably wondering about Jerzy Jung. Wonder no more. 1.) Yes, Jerzy Jung is her real name. 2.) No, her new music, a world away from previous recordings featuring only piano and vocals, is not what you might have expected a few years ago from this NJ singer/songwriter. Raised in southern New Jersey by parents who played everything from ACDC to Marvin Gaye to Joni Mitchell in the car, Jerzy developed a hunger for all types of sounds early on.
Since her college graduation in 2004, Jerzy has been entertaining and affecting east coast audiences with her sultry yet powerful vocals, poetic lyrics, and emotive live performances. Most recently, she has taken her training to the next level as a student of renowned vocal coach Don Lawrence (Tracy Bonham, Fuel, Bono, The Rolling Stones). Her new 4-song EP, produced by Alex Houton of Wu Shu Entertainment Group, is a mix of dynamic lead vocals; airtight harmonies; clever and energetic arrangements for guitar, bass, strings, and drums; and dreamy electronic accents.

ON THE PLANE!
If you were a ticket agent for the VIP plane to hell who would YOU put on it. It's a little game we play when hanging around a table of good wine and great friends. Some think it's a bit morbid, but then they don't know our sense of humor. This episode I welcome the originator of "On the plane," our friend Ms. Skyelar Hawkins. She, Laurie and myself argue over who should be on the plane. Is it good podcasting? I thought so. Now it's your turn to chime in.
I should be posting the list on my Myspace site. Check it out.
Don't Be Late
My band Matt Whipkey and Anonymous American released our second full length record last week to critical acclaim. Check out three songs on this episode.
Matt Whipkey and Anonymous American also just won an Omaha Entertainment Award in the Americana/Roots category!! Yay for us.
