This week we feature an interview with Sarah Scott and Johnathan Kochmer from Two Loons For Tea. I was contacted by their label that they were on their way through the Midwest. After hearing their music, we like 'em a lot and were very glad to have them on the show...
From their Myspace page:
Two Loons for Tea are Sarah Scott and Jonathan Kochmer.
Together, Sarah and Jonathan make organic, lush, rich, and innovative music that defies genres and expectations. They break free from the norm while being a pleasure to simply listen to.
Sarah, besides having an extra rib, was raised by a free-spirited single mom in such exotic locales as the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, near a nudist colony in the Mountains of Santa Cruz, and in metropolitan New York City. She has integrated the bohemian lifestyle into her own personal take on life, channeling it into her soulful singing.
Jonathan came to music from a different scene: although a life-long musician, he’s been academician working in evolutionary biology, climatology, human genetics, Internet development and biostatistics, where he nurtured his attention for detail and a passion for invention.

In this episode I am joined by singer Orenda Fink who graciously accepted my invitation to stop by the studio and chat over a couple martinis. We talk about some of the early days of her career, the later days of her critically acclaimed band Azure Ray as well as Art In Manila and where this Saddle Creek Songstress is headed in the future.

The picture above is obviously not my guest Tim McMahan -- it's the singer for the Alligators, an Ohio based band featured on the show. There is actually no documented footage of the elusive "T-Mac" as he has become known in certain elitist circles...Legends abound about this writer, blogger and music aficionado, some say there are no known photos of him as he thinks pictures could "steal his soul," others say that he has been seen paling around with Warren Buffet and Bono at Sunday morning brunches at the Del, still others claim he isn't even real at all...One thing is sure, I managed to lure Tim into my studio with promises of warm delicious coffee and good conversation...The plan worked, though I was told - "No photos"...We talk about music journalism, what's on our iPods, the dirty business of interviews and play lots of great music...So sit back and enjoy learning more about Omaha's true "Man of Mystery"...
Tilly and the Wall - "Beat Control"
The Third Men - "High"
Fizzle Like a Flood - "Believe in Being Barefoot"
The Alligators - "Oh Oh Oh"

Well this week we don't have an interview as most are lined up for future podcasts, but Laurie was kind enough to join me in the studio for mics and martinis - which is always fun. This time we listen to a few Youtube clips which include Chuck Norris and an ode to Bilbo Baggins by our favorite Vulcan...
The Cops - " It's Epidemic"
Old Boy Network - "Mystery"
Little Brazil - "Last Night"
All For Nothing - "A Matter of Choice"
