This week I welcome the fine ladies and gentlemen from the Omaha band The Black Squirrels. Along with them, Irish singer / songwriter Robin James Hurt, who happens to be Kat's brother-in-law and is opening for the band at the Waiting Room on Thursday Jan 29th. We talk about how the band got started playing their Americana/roots/country genre of music and get intimate with details of their second album "Paying For Your Pleasure."

Omaha musician and local legend Dereck Higgins joins me on the show to talk about his colorful musical upbringing. He's played virtually all styles of music and has been a pioneer in the Omaha music scene. From Jazz to punk, Dereck has played it all and experienced what it's like to be the only black man in a rock and roll band in the Midwest. Times have changed and Dereck is now playing in the Saddle Creek Records band Son Ambulance, as well as pursuing his own music as well as working in film.
He's also one of the nicest cats I've ever met.

It's time for style on Worlds of Wayne! This episode I am joined by two featured designers and coordinators of the 2009 Fashion in Salvation show. This show is being held at the historic Burlington building here in Omaha Nebraska and not only features some amazing fashion designers, art, music and style, but proceeds go to some very deserving charities.
Angela Poor and Blake Rave join me in the studio to chat about how this gala fashion event came to be and the amazing talent that is making it all possible.

Welcome to 2009 people. Last year was a blast, starting off with some great guests and ending with the generous donations of you the listener. It was fun going back through the list of in studio guests, interviews and events that Worlds of Wayne had and I want to thank all of you for your continued support into 2009. This year started off with a bang as the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards took over the Holland Center and recognized local music, theater, and art with a grand event, a few cocktails, and some sweet trophies.
Laurie joins me in the studio this time for the first show of the new year. Thanks again for all the support and keep listening. Great stuff coming up this year.
