Once again, members of the Omaha Roller Girls join me in the studio to talk about how their season has come along as well as how the Omaha Junior Roller Girls are shaping up! About the ORG The Omaha Rollergirls are Omaha’s premier all-female flat-track roller derby league. Roller derby is the fastest growing sport in the world and the Omaha Rollergirls are proud to represent Omaha. Its mission is to promote the strength, athleticism, and independence of women through the sport of flat-track roller derby and to provide the skills and training necessary for participation at regional, national, and international level. Consisting of a diverse group of athletes, the ORG is comprised of two teams – the All-Stars, a seasoned travel team that represents our league in national and regional circuits, and the AAA, our home team that competes within the Midwest. The Omaha Rollergirls operate as a LLC and are skater owned. The organization is entirely run through volunteers – no one receives monetary compensation – this includes the skaters themselves, those who train/coach the girls, the officials who enforce the rules and the board of directors that run the organization. When the ORG is not on the track, they are assisting in various ways through their community involvement and volunteer work with organizations such as Youth Emergency Services, Heartland Pride, the American Cancer Society and the Special Olympics. |

So once again the gang at Love Drunk and Hear Nebraska along with the help of a few friends set out on tour to record video of a slew of bands, spreading the good word of Nebraska music and to showcase some amazing talent from around the midwest. They called in to let us know what has been going on, how the tour has been going and how Angie Norman is the driving queen of the tour. Check out some of the videos this crew has been posting at the links below. Love Drunk on hearnebraska.org Opening song: "Curf City" by Universe Contest |

In this episode I welcome Flashbulb Fires from Denver CO. They stopped over for a gig with Arrah and the Ferns at the Barley St. Tavern here in Omaha and took some time to freshen up and be guests on the show. They were a truly great interview fun people, and even brought beer. I chat with the band and play a few songs off the new album. We had a great time and as you will see, it gets a little weird. |
