In this episode I welcome Flashbulb Fires from Denver CO. They stopped over for a gig with Arrah and the Ferns at the Barley St. Tavern here in Omaha and took some time to freshen up and be guests on the show. They were a truly great interview fun people, and even brought beer. I chat with the band and play a few songs off the new album. We had a great time and as you will see, it gets a little weird.

Local Omaha Joe Broghammer joins me in the studio to talk about his art. Thing is, we never get to the art talk. I was 2 martinis in working on a 3rd with Joe casually sipping on a couple beers. We start talking about aliens, spirits, bigfoot, and other paranormal stuff and the entire podcast is basically us debating everything. Joe claims not to believe in any of it, and I of course believe in it all. So it makes for an interesting listen.

Joe Broghammer obtained a B.F.A. from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion. He also completed graduate work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He has exhibited his work in more than forty group shows and has had solo exhibitions throughout the Midwest and beyond. His work is a part of museums, public and private collections. Joe recently won the Best of Show at the OEA Visual Awards Ceremony in December 2006 at the Bemis Underground.

This week the studio was host to TWO bands thanks to our good friends the Normans from Hearnebraska.org. Cheap Girls from Michigan and The Sidekicks from Ohio. Both on tour, they played Omaha and were on their way to Lincoln for a show. We talk about how it has been taking 2 vans and 9 people on the road for a 6 week trek across the USA. We also play two songs from each band.

In this episode I am joined by Dean Bernardini, the bass player for Chevelle. We talk about the new record Hats Off To The Bull and how the current tour is doing. We also talk about how he got into the band, how they have been recording, and what it's like transitioning from being a drummer to a bass player. 

Bio:

Chevelle is an American alternative metal trio that formed in 1995 in Grayslake, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The band was originally composed of two brothers and a local friend: Pete Loeffler (lead vocals/guitar), Sam Loeffler (drums/percussion), and Matt Scott (bass/backing vocals). Matt was later replaced by brother Joe Loeffler. When Joe left the band in 2005, Geno Lenardo subbed-in as the bassist until he was replaced by Pete and Sam's brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini.

 Chevelle has sold over three million albums in the United States. The band's first full-length album, Point #1 was released on a small record label called Squint Entertainment. Chevelle's second album, Wonder What's Next, was certified Platinum by the RIAA after a debut at No. 14 on the United States albums chart, Billboard 200. This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In), the band's third album debuted at No. 8 and has been certified Gold. Chevelle has since released a fourth album, Vena Sera, a fifth album, Sci-Fi Crimes, which was released on August 31, 2009, and a sixth album Hats Off to the Bull was released on December 6, 2011. Other releases from Chevelle include two live albums and DVDs.

This is the second part of my interview with Kelli Miller. At this part of the interview, Kelli gives me a reading using her abilities and tarot cards. I've had tarot readings before and Laurie used to do a tarot reading at the beginning of the each year when we were looking to make goals for the future. I've rarely had a reading given to be by a true psychic with abilities like Kelli and was a bit reserved about it at first. After talking with her as long as I did, it felt quite natural and exciting. I came away with a sense of inspiration, happiness, and peace of mind. 

This interview took place a while back, so it was nice to be able to follow up with the audience about what happened in the weeks following the reading. 

In this 2-part episode I am joined by Psychic Medium Kelli Miller. Kelli shares with us her story on how she discovered and subsequently repressed her abilties. Then how she later as an adult tapped into them again and now helps others with their life path and puts them in touch with passed loved ones. Kelli talks about her experiences with the afterlife, lets me know of a couple of spirits that stopped by, and then in episode 2, does a reading on me.

In this episode, I welcome a trio of game changers from the Omaha video scene. Yes, there is a video scene. Django from Love Drunk, Ben Semisch from Sound Surveillance, and Andrew Roger from Ingrained have been mastering their video skills with their own projects for a few years. Ben and Roger have frequently collaborated with Django on several Love Drunk Videos, a project that has set the bar for shooting bands in a “one take – one song” style. The quality is amazing, the settings are creative, and it’s all done live.

In this episode we welcome Omaha band Rock Paper Dynamite into the studio for an interview. We play some songs off of their new record "I've Seen Days" and talk about their recent win of Best Rock Band at the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards. I first met the band when they played a private Christmas party to an enthusiastic crowd of at least 100 people packed in a basement.
